So hi there.

I was inspired by the recent passage of Health Care Reform to say something political, and I thought “Wait, I have this whole comic that I used to do…” so, I figured I’d whip something up. It’s one of those where I talk a lot and not necessarily one where I am making fun of politicians as much (which is, admittedly more fun) but if you want to read some words that I wrote, there they are.

Sorry I have been away. Yes, I’m alive, and yes I still care about politics. Apparently a couple of things have happened of significance since I last posted a comic. I understand some election happened.

There is a common misconception concerning this comic: it actually does take time to do. I know, it doesn’t look that way in the end, but it does require a somewhat large time output to get each of them done. In lieu of that, I have been working on a machine that instantly creates whatever I imagine in my head into reality. However, while I intended to use such a machine only for good, like other failed technologies, such as the internet and mail-order people-delivery, I quickly found the only legitimate application for such a product was in the sexual realm. The system still has a few kinks in it (it keeps conjuring up Swedish towel boys, for instance. I don’t even like towels!), so until I get it completely worked out, you’ll have to live off of my best intentions and hopes that I can return to form shortly.

I do intend to get something posted today/tonight, though, well, it’s 5 am and I have slept about 2 hours today, trying to meet 3 deadlines at once (not including this, obviously). But I’ll try and get to it. The world should not be deprived of my wit for much longer, I daresay. Keep the faith, dear reader(s).

(You may have noticed that) I’m on a bit of a hiatus from Politico!, to concentrate on a couple of projects that are coming up at the moment. I hope to get back to this within the week.

I’ve got my comic all ready to go, but I’ve lost my FTP info (was using FireFTP in Firefox 2, but it doesn’t work in the FF3 beta). So I’ve got to wait til tomorrow morning to catch Hogie and get the FTP stuff. Sorry ’bout that.

So I’ve managed to do 17 comics without Photoshop crashing on me… I officially have ended that streak. (How in the nine hells has Photoshop made it to version 13 without any sort of backup feature?)

Coupled with me feeling like crap all day today for some reason means you should expect the comic tomorrow. Sorry about that. guys.

On a somewhat side-note, I think I’ve officially had it with Firefox’s memory leak issues. It is taking me literally 10 minutes to write this post because of the browser freezing up every 3 seconds. Do you guys have any ideas for alternatives? What’s out there besides IE?

Comic is coming a little later today, but we need to talk about this:

This is the logo for the Divided We Fail organization, which has a fairly noble (if a little syruppy-nonpartisan) message, that all people should have health care and “financial security”.

I’m not trying to downplay their message, which I’m sure is great. But what the hell is that monstrosity they’ve created? In what sense is some sort of half-elephant, half-donkey hybrid supposed to be anything but absolutely terrifying?

What do you even call that? A Donkephant? A Pachyass? A sign of the coming apocalypse?

If that’s a symbol of a united world, I don’t want to be a part of it.
